Peyote is a small, spineless cactus that, along with the San Pedro cactus, contains Mescaline. This hallucinogen has traditionally been used by natives in northern Mexico and parts of the US in their religious ceremonies.

Peyote’s contemporary uses

These days there is increasing evidence that Mescaline has beneficial therapeutic uses in the treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism, depression and anxiety. This alkaloid is known to modulate neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine within the brain, both of which play essential role in the regulation of pleasure. It has also been used for treating fevers, joint pain and paralysis when applied directly to the skin.

Along with Mescaline, the cactus contains psychoactive compounds which create a dream-like state and stimulates deep inner contemplation. This can be extremely helpful for those seeking a psycho-spiritual experience.

How to use Mescaline

To use the cactus, begin by cutting out the core and then make V like cuts into the flesh.  These V cuts are often referred to as the “buttons.” Chew the pulp from each of the buttons (yes, it may be very bitter and tastes awful!) and wash it down with a liquid.  Given that everyone’s tolerance is different, a dose can be between 2-15 buttons, with the high starting within 45 minutes.  Many people report that they have hallucinations and that it is similar to being on an LSD trip, just much softer and not as edgy.

Awaken your spirit

Using the Peyote cactus, even in small amounts, seems to have benefits for insight as well as inducing a sense of anesthetic pain relief qualities.  Experimenting in small amounts is advisable for your initial journey to see what your tolerance level is but once you discover what that is, Mescaline may just be the jump start you need to awaken your spirit and gain valuable insight into your life.
