Opiates had been a problem for me my entire adult life. From age 19 to age 37, on and off for 18 years, but mainly on. I had never been clean for longer than 12 months. I had tried many different methods of quitting from going cold turkey on my own, detox, methadone, 12 steps, moving to different cities and even Rapid Opiate Detox surgery. Nothing stuck. I found I couldn’t relate to many of the conventional treatment methods. I felt there were too many strict rules or that the programs tried to instil beliefs I just didn’t believe. It seemed that there was no flexibility or tailoring of the programs to individuals.
The last two year stretch of my addiction was particularly horrible. I was on methadone and using street drugs heavily. My personal life as well as my health were in shambles. I had previously heard of Ibogaine but never really considered it thinking it was too “far out” for me. At this point in my life, however, I had reached rock bottom and decided to give Ibogaine treatment a good hard look. I researched it thoroughly and was impressed with what I found. The addiction interrupter aspect of it really appealed to me. I was still a little skeptical about Ibogaine when I made the decision to go through with the treatment but I was convinced enough through my research that this was my best shot at recovery. So I went in with an open mind.
I was fortunate to have found Gareth and Blair at Inner Realms as my care providers. I felt safe, secure and well looked after while allowing me the peace of mind to concentrate fully on my recovery. The medicine speaks for itself but having experienced providers who are knowledgeable about Ibogaine can make the difference between being set-up for success or failure. Having knowledgeable and experienced providers like these two set me on the path to finally beating my addiction. Their steady, methodical approach with the medicine was just what my body needed. The mental coping skills and other advice passed on from them have been as equally important to my recovery as the Ibogaine was.
I would highly recommend Garyth and Blair to anyone serious about using Ibogaine to achieve recovery.
